Lets hear the story from Sean about him overwatered jade.
Let’s hear the story
Yesterday, I’m really sad. My lovely jade is died cause I’m overwatering it.
I’m a beginner at gardening.
Especially handling with jade, I thought Jade.
Need to be watered regularly.
But I don’t know about it.
The next day, I have another Jade plant and I promised not to overwatered it again.
The sign of Overwatered Jade
Yellowing Leaves
If you have too much water on your Jade plant you will notice yellow leaves.
Old leaves may turn yellow as they decay.
However if you notice a lot of yellow leaves you may have too much water.
Overwatering causes the leaves to turn yellow as they become waterlogged may be suffering from root rot…
….and will not be able to absorb sufficient nutrients to thrive and flourish.
So what happen next?
A Jade Plant whose leaves are turning yellow represents a chance to identify the cause of the problem…
…and cure it before it becomes worse.
Yellow leaves can result from a whole range of problems such as overwatering underwatering high or low temperatures pests, and diseases.
Leaf Drop
Leaf drop occurs when the Jade Plant’s roots becomes overworked.
Based on the increasing conditions they are unable to support the leaves causing it to drop its leaves.
If your Jade plant is dropping older leaves as it matures it is not always a sign of overwatered jade.
It may be completely normal, keep a look out for excessive or premature leaf drops…
…which can be a sign of too much water.
Keep going…
Soft Leaves
When you squeeze a Jade Plant’s leaves and find them soft is probably that the plant is dehydrated….
…and needs more water. This is not always the case though, so don’t jump to watering it immediately.
A healthy Jade plant has water-filled leaves that are thick and firm to the touch.
If the leaves of your Jade plant are more soft and “squishy” than they are firm it could be a sign that…
…overwatered Jade is occured.
Go on…
Soft leaves often present themselves when the Jade plant suffers root rot which is directly…
..caused by excessive watering.
However, soft leaves can also be a sign of underwatering or dehydration so you may not be wrong if you first thought as much.
The best way to determine if the leaves are soft from overwatering or underwatering is to check the roots and soil.
Dry Leaves
Seeing very dry leaves on your Jade Plant might make you think that the plant is dehydrated…
… or in need of watering and then you might reach for the watering can.
According to the other symptoms dry leaves are a sign that, it was become overwatered Jade..
….which leads to non-functioning roots.
The most important…
Wet Soil And Root Rot
All of your answers talk about soil, and soil moisture. That’s because soil moisture is probably the most important consideration with succulents – jade tree is a kind of succulent. The soil absolutely must dry out between waterings.”

In order to figure out the cause of your plant’s problems, you need to look at the health of the soil…
…as well as the symptoms your plant displays. Saturated soil will quickly cause root rot which can kill the roots…
…of your plant preventing your Jade Plant absorbing water and nutrients.
Without water and nutrients the plant becomes dehydrated and shows signs of nutrient deficiency.
Feel the soil with your fingers to assess the moisture. If the soil is saturated and the pot is heavy with water…
…then it is very unlikely that underwatering is the cause of the problem.
If you notice that the soil is too wet and your plant is unhappy remove it from its pot. to take a closer look at the roots.
If the roots appear moist soft and mushy you are most likely overwatering it.
Lets go to the interesting part…
How to Fix It
Crassula ovata, a succulent plant has been bred from specimens originally collected in South Africa-Mozambique.
Several cultivars have been developed for the nursery trade after they have been developed by hybridization…
..and selective breeding. They are hell-for-stout tough practically bulletproof to care for they tolerate neglect…
…and keep on keeping on.
But with kindness you can surely kill them.
Make sure the soil in their pot dries out and I mean completely dry between watering.
You do have your jade plant in a pot with drainage holes in the bottom, correct?
It can be saved by cutting of the stem if the roots are rotten and letting the stem callus cure…
…for 3 to 5 days (the cut end completely dries) a mixture of 70 percent by volume of commercial cactus potting mix…
…30 percent by volume of perlite then re-potting the cut stem.
Water the stem only when the top couple inches of soil are completely dry.
Jade plants are easy to re-root so there shouldn’t be any problems re-rooting it.
Jade plants need a lot more sunlight than they can get inside an apartment or house.
If you can keep your plant outside like on a porch or balcony it will thrive much better than if it stays inside.
What is important is to not leave the soil in its pot damp or wet. They need to be allowed to dry out.
Last but not least…
Soil is Important Too
The reason is because soil moisture is the most important factor with succulents jade trees are a type of succulent.
The soil must absolutely dry out between waterings.
You can use soil moisture tests to know exactly where the moisture is…
….and it doesn’t have anything to do with guesswork or gut feeling.
If you don’t have an electronic moisture meter then use a wooden probe.
Sum Up
Okay let’s summarize all of the things that we have covered up above.
Watering the plant was good but never try to over water it.
There’s many signs if it becomes an overwatered Jade.
Leaves drop, Soft leaves, Dry leaves, Wet soil and root rot.
