What Is the Difference Between a Two and a Four Stroke Lawn Mower?
Gasoline and oil must be combined in a two-stroke (or two-cycle) engine. The oil and gasoline for a four-stroke (or four-cycle) engine are kept separate in separate tanks. Two-stroke engines feature fewer moving components and need fewer processes.
They are less difficult to maintain. In general, a two-stroke engine is substantially smaller, less in weight, noisier, smokier, and less expensive. A four-stroke engine uses less gasoline and provides more torque. In addition, four-stroke engines are quicker to start, more dependable, more powerful, and more costly.
The lawn mower is a mechanical device that literally shaves the surface of the grass by using a rapidly rotating blade or blades.”

How Do I Determine Whether My Mower Is 2 or 4 Stroke?
First, consult your owner’s handbook. Check to see if there are any other means to distinguish between the two, such as stickers that read No Fuel Mixing. That indicates it’s a four-stroke mower. Then, double-check the fuel cap. If your mower has a two-stroke engine and the original gasoline cap, the cap will read the mix ratio (like 32:1).
On a two-stroke engine, you won’t find a dipstick or separate fuel ports for fuel and oil. There is just one. If your mower is four-stroke, you should have little trouble finding a dipstick. 4 stroke engines will have distinct fill openings for oil and fuel, which will be properly labeled.
What Fuel Does a 4 Stroke Mower Take?
Always consult the owner’s handbook first. Gasoline with an octane level of 87 or higher is recommended for four-stroke engines, whereas gasoline with an octane level of 89 or higher is required for chainsaws. Gasoline should have an ethanol content of between 0% and 10%, or up to 15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether).
Lawn Mower
Lawn maintenance is a challenging activity that requires you to get your hands dirty and usually involves heavy equipment that can be difficult to control. That is why you need a lawn mower to help you manage your vast lawn!
Buying Lawn Mower
But what exactly makes a good lawn mower? And how do you choose between them? For the first question, there are a few things you should look for in a new lawn mower:
Power
If you’re going to tackle the task of cutting down your grass, you might as well go all-out with horsepower. The more power you have on tap, the faster you’ll cut through blades of grass, which means less time spent waiting around.
Engine size
While horsepower can tell you a lot about a lawn mower’s power, engine size will also give you an idea of its overall performance. A larger engine will mean better fuel efficiency, while smaller engines usually translate into quicker starts and longer run times.
Blade length
Another thing you should consider is blade length. Longer blades mean they’ll get the job done quickly without leaving behind clumps of grass or tearing up your yard.
Hand held vs Riding mower
We’ve come across some great hand-held models, but if you’re looking for something quieter and easier to use than a riding model, then we suggest checking out a riding mower.
The benefits of being able to walk around your lawn instead of having to ride around on a mowing machine make this type of mower ideal for those who don’t like working outside. This isn’t just convenient though; it also takes the pressure off the back by allowing you to control the width and angle of the cuts, and the height of the grass at any given moment.
If you’re on the fence about whether a hand-held or riding mower would work best for you, then check out these two mowers side-by-side below and let us know which one looks the most appealing to you in the comments section.
